When observing the lions, elephants and many varied animals on a safari trip, it’s very hard not to have David Attenborough’s voice as your soundtrack. It truly does feel as if you’re in one of the many documentaries he has produced over the decades and it really is that special.

I have often been asked what my favourite trip is or my favourite place and it’s hard not to say safaris across the various African countries. Why? Well not only is it amazing to breakfast alongside a cheetah cub, before hanging out with some lion cubs, followed by some time with a herd of elephants, it’s even more than that. The landscape, the sunrises and sunsets, all combine to make you feel as if you are in a film.

And that’s before we even consider the amazing hospitality and cheerful nature of the bright and brilliant guides and staff at the various lodges and across this wonderful continent. From being sung to upon arrival to every need being catered to in the most extraordinary way, it’s hard to think of another experience that mirrors it.

The lodges and camps are anything but basic. Tubs placed in front of incredible views meaning you can quite literally soak it all in. Meals that wouldn’t be out of place in a top restaurant. Outside (and indoor) showers meaning you can watch a hippo return to the water in the morning as you too do the same.

Safaris deliver time and again. I have yet to meet someone who didn’t rave about their experience and wish to go back, many, many times over. And that’s before we consider the incredible experiences that you can have alongside a safari trip. Visiting vineyards, banana plantations, local villages and schools, hiking mountains, desert hikes, boat rides, scuba diving, surfing or simply relaxing by some of the world’s most beautiful crystal clear waters, these trips are the gift that keeps on giving.
