Zambia

Zambia is where the idea of the walking safari was born. Wild, generous and full of heart, it offers a closeness to nature that few places can match.

Follow expert guides through the bush of South Luangwa, reading tracks in the dust and hearing the calls of the wild. Glide along the Zambezi in a canoe as elephants drink at the water’s edge. Stand before the roar and spray of Victoria Falls, one of Africa’s great natural wonders. As night falls, fires are lit, and stories are shared beneath wide Zambian skies.

Diamond Skies Safaris invites you to experience Zambia’s untamed spirit in comfort. Each camp and lodge is chosen for its atmosphere and authenticity, creating journeys that are raw in nature yet refined in experience.

Zambia practical tips

Access & Travel

  • Lusaka's Kenneth Kaunda International Airport is the main point of entry with transfer flights to parks in South Luangwa and Kafue. The lower Zambezi can be reached by either an internal flight or a few hours drive. Travel is by 4x4 or on foot, offering a closer connection with the bush.

Accommodation & Guiding

  • All Diamond Skies Safaris in Zambia include full guiding by skilled naturalists and experienced hosts. Zambia’s safaris take place in intimate camps within private concessions and national parks. Days are warm and dry in peak season, while evenings can be cool beside the rivers. Visitor numbers are low, ensuring a wild, unhurried experience that supports conservation-led tourism.

Sustainability

  • Unfortunately Zambia has suffered from being an elephant poaching hotspot, however, tourism has been identified as a key driver of conservation and sustainable development. Safaris in Zambia offer greater protection to wildlife and their habitats, providing local communities greater incentives to engage in conservation.

Combining Destinations

  • The Okavango Delta and Victoria Falls can be easily reached with bordering Botswana and Zimbabwe. Tanzania and Malawi are also excellent choices, combining safari with beach or lakeside relaxation.
